Spring on my mind

So even though the weather has been off and on Warm, Cold, Warm, Cold in typical New England fashion I have had spring on my mind. I have been watching outside everyday for flowers and since I have yet to see any I have taken to making my own. Pretty silly polka dotty ones, Plain pretty simple ones and big floppy layered ones. Of course I have been attaching them to clips and adding them to my Etsy store. I have also taken to wearing them each day in my hair, I love looking through my collection each day and picking that perfect one. Keep thinking Spring Everyone!!!

Ribbons Ribbons everywhere.....

So in my endeavors to make Korkers I have found myself up to my elbows in Ribbon. Not just what I have in the house but I am looking at on the internet and in stores. I am trying hard to find a good priced ribbon that is still a nice quality. I finally managed to find the little Alligator clips that everyone uses so I ordered them along with some ribbon from the house of ribbon. I think once I have made all these up ( I am still waiting for the ribbon) I will see how they sell and how I like making them. If they sell well I will be ordering my ribbon in much larger amounts, but I figured I would start small first. I have to say I got the ribbon much cheaper then in the store ninety five cents for 5 yards and I ordered about 10 colors? Plus one four pack that came in Celtic colors (well they said St Paddy's day but here in Boston we know they are really Celtic colors.

Welcome to the Insanity

Here I am doing what I never really had an interest in before...Blogging. Why am I suddenly deciding to spill my guts you ask? Well the short answer is business. As I have recently thrown myself in to launching my business I have found myself looking for ways to not only promote but to share how I feel about what I am doing. Do I sew because I want to make money? Do I want to get rich throwing amazing birthday parties? I suppose that somewhere the answer to these is yes but it is more then that. I sew because I love it, because I am good at and because I love to see the things I have made being worn used and loved. I love to watch a little girl twirl herself to the point of falling down in one of my twirl skirts as she giggles crazily. I love to see the sweetness of three sisters in matching pillowcase dresses year after year and watch their growth through the dress's use, a dress, a tunic, a shirt. To see the smiles on their faces when they go to their closet and show me that they get to keep it each season because it can be worn warm or cold and never has to be tucked away. I love seeing a new mother lay her precious bundle on one of my soft blankets and then watch as the baby grows pulling the blanket along as they go. Or seeing a toddler dribbling food down one of generous bibs. I love to hear the gasp in a little girls voice when she pronounces the room I just decorated for her party, magic. To see her eyes smiling and voice giggling as she dances along to some part of our fun. I love the looks of amazement at that perfect cake a I decorated and the gleeful pouncing on that lovely tea table. I love it all, I love making people happy, and I love doing what I am good at. So this is why I am blogging not only to spread the word of the things I am making, the parties I throw or the things I sell, but also to share the love of them. So again I welcome you to the insanity, it promises to be an interesting ride.
